One of Durham Region’s most anticipated new freehold communities is preparing to launch in Newcastle.
I remember when my wife (fiance at the time) and I were looking to buy our first house in Scarborough and East York, probably about 35 years ago. We couldn't find anything half decent in our price range, so we decided to check out new home sites in Pickering and Ajax. We loved a particular model built by Eastcastle homes in Westney Heights. It was a fully detached, two-storey, 1950 square foot home that we purchased for the grand total of $130,000, which was huge money at the time! We were worried about how far Ajax was from the city and our friends thought that we were absolutely crazy to buy a house so far away.
I relate this story to you if you live in Scarborough and the western part of Durham Region. You yourself may think that Newcastle is in the boonies, but that is where you can get a nice house like my wife and I got those many years ago, today.
Very few large freehold home communities are currently launching across Durham Region – especially in Pickering, Ajax, and Whitby.
